Tongariro is New Zealand's oldest National Park, a world heritage area, is a place of extremes and surprises. There is a large range of walks and tracks available to suit all ages and fitness levels. Tongariro National Park is an area with a remarkable diverse and varied landscape, lush forest, desert terrain, lakes, rivers, streams, active volcanoes, snow, fire and ice.
The camp itself provides self catering facilities for up to 70 people in a combination of bunk-room accommodation, a three bedroom 'Holiday House' and a standalone cottage.
An ideal location for school groups participating in "Education Outside the Classroom" studies, Mangatepopo is situated for convenient day trips for all adventure activities around the area. It is also close to the 42nd traverse for the adventurous trail bike enthusiast!.
